Creative Signs @ WorldSkills

Josh is an apprentice competing at Worldskills in Sydney, 2008. He's an apprentice signwriter, and chats about how he got involved in signwriting. He shares the signs he's created, the materials and designs used.

Josh enjoys working with nothing, a blank canvas, and creating something.

At Worldskills, Josh shares what he's being judged on in signwriting, the challenges in the tasks, and how he felt he went.

About Signwriting At SkillsOne:

Sign writing involves the design, printing and creation of eye catching visual creations. Including bill boards, posters, large stickers and vehicle wrapping. Work can range from small stickers to wrapping a whole bus in a new colour and design.

Competition:

3 part competition:
1) Get a description of what a customer needs and what type of design they are after. Have to think about the design and create it.
2) Print out the design on cut out shapes, letters as required. Measure the letters to get correct sizes.
3) Install the print on an object. Will be a ridged object to make it harder.
a. There will also be a painting component in the design and application.
